Early Childhood Assessment

The ELS Team is a unique collaboration of two highly regarded non-profit educational institutions dedicated to making authentic assessment less complicated and less time-consuming for preschool teachers. In 2010, the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) published the Early Learning Scale (ELS) preschool assessment instrument. About the same time, The Center: Resources for Teaching and Learning (THE CENTER) presented its online authentic assessment tool kit called I-TEACHe (Tools for EArly CHildhood Excellence). Our collaboration has resulted in a valid and reliable assessment tool that is both easy to use and meaningful to teachers.
